Wecis Clothing

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 November 2026

This policy explains what personal information Wecis Clothing collects when you shop with us online, in our showrooms or on WhatsApp, why we need it, who we share it with and the choices you have. We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the rules of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

Wecis Clothing is the data controller for your information. You can reach us at 3 Adeniyi Jones Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos, by email at info@wecisclothing.com or on +234 803 364 0090.

What we collect

When you order: your name, email address, phone number, delivery address (or the showroom you collect from), any notes you add such as measurements, what you bought and how you paid.

When you create an account: your name, email address, phone number and a password. We store the password in scrambled (hashed) form, so we can't read it.

When you pay: card and OPay wallet payments are made on OPay's secure payment page. We never see or store your full card details. We receive a payment reference and whether the payment succeeded. For bank transfers, we see the name and account the money came from.

When you contact us: messages you send by WhatsApp, phone or email, including measurements and photos for custom fits or returns.

When you browse: basic technical information such as your device, browser, pages visited and, if you arrived from one of our adverts, the advert's campaign code. See "Cookies and similar technology" below.

We don't ask for your date of birth, your BVN or other government ID numbers, and we don't collect sensitive personal data.

Why we use it

  • To process, deliver and support your order, including custom tailoring. (Needed to perform our contract with you.)
  • To send order confirmations and updates by email and WhatsApp. (Contract.)
  • To manage your account if you create one. (Contract.)
  • To handle returns, refunds and complaints. (Contract and legal obligation.)
  • To keep accounting and tax records, including VAT. (Legal obligation.)
  • To prevent fraud and keep our website secure. (Legitimate interest.)
  • To understand which pages and adverts work, so we can improve the shop. (Legitimate interest, or consent where required.)
  • To send you offers and news, only if you have agreed to receive them. (Consent, which you can withdraw at any time.)

Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information. We share only what each partner needs to do their job:

  • OPay, to process online payments.
  • Dispatch riders and courier companies, who receive your name, phone number and delivery address.
  • Netlify, which hosts our website and product images, and our database and email hosting providers.
  • Google (Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads), to measure visits and adverts. When you place an order, your email address and phone number may be sent to Google in scrambled form to measure our adverts. Google doesn't use this to identify you to us.
  • WhatsApp (Meta), when you choose to message us there.
  • Government authorities, such as tax authorities or the police, when the law requires it.

Data stored outside Nigeria

Some of our providers, including Netlify and Google, store data on servers outside Nigeria. When that happens, we rely on the safeguards the NDPA allows, such as the provider's contractual data protection commitments, and we share only what the service needs.

Cookies and similar technology

  • Essential: a sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in to your account for up to 30 days, and your shopping bag, which is saved in your browser so it is still there when you come back.
  • Advert codes: if you arrive from one of our adverts, the campaign code is saved in your browser so we know which advert led to an order.
  • Analytics and advertising: Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies, loaded through Google Tag Manager.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. The shop still works without analytics cookies, but your bag and sign-in need browser storage. You can also control Google's advertising at adssettings.google.com and opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

How long we keep it

  • Orders and payment records: at least six years, as required by Nigerian tax and accounting law.
  • Accounts: until you ask us to close your account. Orders linked to it are kept as above.
  • Measurements and messages: for as long as they help us serve you, usually up to two years after your last order, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

Your rights

Under the NDPA you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
  • correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • delete your information, where we don't need to keep it by law;
  • restrict or stop using your information, or object to how we use it;
  • send your information to you or another company in a common format;
  • stop sending you marketing messages at any time.

Email info@wecisclothing.com with your request. We may ask you to confirm your identity, and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not happy with our response, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission at ndpc.gov.ng.

How we protect it

Our website uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Passwords are stored in hashed form. Access to customer information is limited to staff who need it, and admin accounts are password protected. If a breach puts your information at risk, we will tell the NDPC and, where required, tell you without delay.

Children

Our shop is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you think a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services or the law change. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change significantly affects how we use your information, we will tell you by email or on our website.
